As part of our mitigation plan, (look for in separate email) I will have each parent fill out a health questionnaire form for their player. I will be emailing this out and also post on the website.

UPDATE 5/26 10:30 PM

We still haven't gotten clear guidance from the city pertaining to when we can start games. Hopefully over the next few days we will have answers. But Anchorage is the only city not allowing "team play" in youth sports based on the guidelines of the state. With a posted, at the facility, mitigation plan practices, etc can be held. So this is the new schedule:

Tuesday 6/2 Player Evaluations: Mustang and Bronco 5-8 PM at the Far North Fields.

Wednesday 6/3 Player Evaluations: PONY and Colt 5-8 PM at the Far Noth Fields.

As part of our mitigation plan I will have each parent fill out a health questionnaire form for their player. I will be emailing this out and also post on the website.

ALSO IVE BEEN TOLD THAT HOTMAIL ACCOUNTS MAY NOT BE RECEIVING LEAGUE EMAILS. THIS IS SOMETHING WITH HOTMAIL NOT THE LEAGUE. I SUGGEST YOU ADD AN ADDITIONAL EMAIL TO YOUR PROFILE TO ENSURE YOU RECEIVE EMAILS.

UPDATE 5/25 8:30 PM

With the recent changes in both State and City requirements (moving from phase 2 to phase 3) and the likelihood of rain, Tuesday evaluations will occur Wednesday and/or Thursday. Since the City has not specifically addressed youth sports groups in the published guidelines I need to reach out on Tuesday for guidance. The SoA guidelines are published and leave it up to user groups to proceed with prudent precautions however the city most likely will impose additional requirements more stringent than the States.

Please check back tomorrow night for additional updates.

NOTE: REGISTRATIONS FEES WILL BE IN A PENDING STATE ON YOUR CREDIT CARD. CHARGES WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL WE HAVE A CONFIRMED START DATE.

Hello All,

I hope everyone has been enjoying this fantastic spring weather and hopefully getting some throwing in!!

We've been asked many questions as to when the season will start and currently we can't give an exact start date but we hoping for an early June start. The governor is to make some more announcements on Wednesday 5/20 and with luck, he will announce phase 3 conditions.

In case you aren't aware all sports fields in this town except for a select few are MOA parks and until the Parks and Rec division issues permit's no youth baseball group or soccer groups or like youth sports groups can commence play. However, as long as we follow the phase two guidelines we can meet for practices and or evaluations as long as there are no more than 50 people in attendance. According to the MOA Parks and Rec Department, there have been no guidelines issued as to when Phase 3 will start nor if permits for what they consider "contact sports" will be issued. Baseball in this definition is a contact (proximity) sport.

Under phase 2 guidelines we still need to keep 6' distance for standing around, 10' for sports with no contact. Basically for groups to practice drills. We need to develop a plan and have the plan posted before activities.

Now with all these mandates in place what can we do? Under phase two mandates the league can hold evaluations and teams can practice as long as we follow the social distancing rules.

So after we have evaluations when could we start play? Again this is based on when we get permits from the MOA Parks Dept. My best guess is this will be sometime in early June.

With this information what are the next steps? What we will do is set up evaluations for the PONY, Bronco, and Mustang divisions, and then after teams are drafted practicing can occur as long as they follow the State and City mandates.

When will evaluations be? Since we asked people to hold off registering until we knew if there was going to be a season we will need you to get online and register ASAP. Evaluations will happen Tuesday through Thursday after Memorial Day. You will only be required to attend one evaluation and we need you registered no later than 8 PM on Monday 5/25. Check the website for times by noon on 5/25.

Do I need to register now? Yes please go to www.farnorthysa.org and register. Your credit card will be in a pending state but the charge will not be released until we can confirm season start. Once you register there will be no refunds unless the season is canceled by the City.

Can I register in person? Unfortunately, you cannot register in person. All registrations must be done online through our website www.farnorthysa.org

How long will the season run? This depends on when we start but we will run into late July or early August. We hope to get the same number of games by adding additional games per week.

Do you still need coaches? Yes, we need coaches. Without coaches, we can't have teams.
What about the Foal, Shetland and Pinto Divisions? Yes, we need these age groups to register also. Next week we will focus on Mustang, Bronco, and PONY groups, and the following week the younger groups.
How many teams will the league have? We won't know until everyone gets registered but we are hoping to have out standard numbers.
I heard Wasilla may have some teams in our league? Since Wasilla PONY canceled their season I've been approached by coaches and players to join our league for the summer.
Hope this answer most of your questions. We will keep you updated as we get more information from officials.
Yours in Baseball

  • 7 important MLB trends to watch in 2019

Wed, 27 Feb 2019 14:14:00 EDT The game is changing, perhaps more quickly than ever. Forget comparing the sport to what it looked like in the 1960s or the '80s; the game has changed massively in just the last half-decade. Remember, just five years ago, we were all talking about the lack of power ,and no one was talking about launch angle or spin rate. Things are slightly different now.
